Cardinal Albornoz ordered a military fortress to be built in 1359 at the city’s highest point. This impressive building was erected on a rectangular plan with two inner courtyards – the Cortile d’Onore and the Corte d’Armi – both of which have towers. One of the famous people who lived here was Lucrezia Borgia. For more the 100 years it was a prison and it was restored in 1984. You can reach La Rocca on foot or by shuttle bus from Piazza Campello.
