The poet John Keats, spend his last years in Rome during the early 19th Century. Funds were raised after his death by admirers of his work. They bought the apartment overlooking Piazza di Spagna, where Keats had lived, and devoted it to the poet’s memory. The Keats - Shelley Memorial House contains the original furniture and antiques which are associated with another poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley, who also spent much time in Italy. On display is a watercolour and sculpture collection of Joseph Severn. Interesting exhibits include a cast with the face of the poet and Oscar Wilde’s autograph.
