This Baroque villa faces onto the road and is shaped and styled like a sea vessel, a fact that does not go easily unnoticed. However, the villa’s importance owes more to its role in history than its architectural design. The villa was the last stronghold of the Roman Republic before falling after giving a courageous defence; you can still see evidence of the battle in the buildings ruins. Also in the nearby Doria Pamphilj Villa you are able to see some of the monuments built to celebrate this historic event.
