In 1786, Johann Wolfgang Goethe arrived in Rome and stayed in an apartment there until 1788. That same apartment, situated in Via del Corso, became a museum in 1997, dedicated to the man and his works. Here visitors can see a display of watercolours and drawings along with the writer’s journals and letters. There are also many every day items belonging to the period. Several times throughout the year cultural events take place at the museum which includes things like readings and concerts.
