The date of the Fonte di Pescaia fountain sited outside the city walls near Porta Camollia is uncertain even though its existence is documented as early as 1226. The fountain has been modified over the years, from the simple Roman-Etruscan basin to a double arched building around 1247. It has a drinking water spout and drinking trough, a third arch, a new washbasin and trough were added later. Today, the fountain is partially enclosed by a more recent building; nevertheless it is the only one that still has traces of the original crenellations.
