The Contemporary and Modern Art National Gallery is said to have the finest collection of artwork and sculptures from 1800 to the present day. The collection, which is mostly of Italian artists, has been housed here since 1915 in the building designed by C. Bazzani for the 50th anniversary exhibition of the Italian Reunification in 1911. The works include that of Canova and his school, paintings of Risorgimento battles by Fattori e Cammararo, the works of Balla, Guttuso, De Chirico, Schwartz, Carrà, Sironi, Moranti, Pollock, Tapier, Burri, and Fontana. Sculptors include Arnaldo Pomodoro, Consagra and Guerrini.
