This was once believed to have been a pagan temple converted for the use of Christian rituals. It has since been decided that it was built for Christian use all along and erected sometime between the 6th and the 8th Century. People once travelling the small track below the temple would be afforded the view of the beautiful façade and the marble columns in a Roman cum oriental style. Inside, the small Roman sanctuary is decorated with Byzantine frescoes dating from the 700s.
