The Church of Sant’Andrea occupies the middle of Via del Quirinale. It was built by Cardinal Camillo Pamphili in 1671. This wonderful building by Bernini is considered by many to be his architectural masterpiece. It is reached by a flight of steps; the façade is Corinthian with a small semicircular porch, stunning even if the church is quite small. The plan is transversal elliptic, and the interior is richly decorated. On each side there are elegant chapels and in the high altar is Borgognone’s ‘Crucifixion’.
