The Chimney Sweep Museum in Santa Maria Maggiore was opened in August 1983. It can be found in the park of Villa Antonia, a wonderful building in Piazza Risorgimento. In 1600 the ‘vigezzini’ emigrated to France, Germany, Holland and other European countries and these emigrants became chimney-sweeps. Housed in this museum are the chimney-sweeps’ tools including the rasp, il brischetin (a sort of broom), iron tools used for rasping, and many other items, as well as photographs.
