Cardinal Alessandro Farnese built the Chiesa del Gesù between 1568 and 1575. It is in the shape of the Latin cross, one nave, lateral chapels and decorated by marbles, bronze statues and gold. The dome is decorated with the Coronation of the Virgin Mary and the Tribune with the adoration of Jesus created by Baciccia. In the left transept are Saint Ignatius’ altar of marble and precious stones, and a beautiful silver statue of Saint Ignatius.
