The basilica Santa Maria dei Servi is in the classic three nave Latin cross design. It is unusual in that almost 150 years separated the start of construction from the consecration of the building in 1533. It is believed to have been built on the site of an earlier church dedicated to San Clemente and has works by Manetti and Matteo di Giovanni. The church steps offer magnificent views of the cathedral and the Palazzo Pubblico.
