The baptistery of San Giovanni in Siena dates from the 14th Century. In the centre is the beautiful king-size font, a masterpiece of Renaissance. It is decorated with scenes depicting the life of John the Baptist in gilt bronze panels. The hexagonal basin has many sculptures including work by Jacopo della Quercia, Giovanni di Turino, Turino di Sano, Giovanni di Turino, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Goro di Neroccio. Frescoes in the baptistery include 15th Century work by Vecchietta.
