This monument was found during excavations in the 16th Century, but was only completed in 1937. The altar built in 9BC was to celebrate the Augustan Peace. It stands on a podium accessible from a 9-step flight of steps surrounded by a rectangular fence. The fence is decorated with brank-ursine in the lower part and four marble images portraying the Lupercalia, Aeneas sacrificing Laurens’ sow, the earth and the goddess Rome. The short side of the monument portrays a procession of priests and Augustus relatives.
