Piazza Solferino is a green area within the city of Turin and is where the Angelica Fountain is situated. It was named after the mother of the man who sponsored the work. The fountain is also known as ‘fountain of the four seasons’ and dates from 1930. There is a peculiarity about the figures on the fountain; the two statues, which represent autumn and winter, stand opposite one another, yet face in opposing directions. It was the work of sculptor Giovanni Riva.
