The monument dedicated to Vittorio Bottego can be found in front of the railway station in Parma. It is a work by Ettore Ximenes and was unveiled on 26 September 1907. Vittorio Bottego was an explorer who was born in the S. Lazzaro District of Parma in 1860. He was killed in a fight at Daga Roba on 17 March 1897. A full account of his life was written in the book ‘Giuba Explored’ in 1895.
