The Villa Contarini is thought to have been built on the foundations of an ancient castle when it was erected in the 16th Century. It dominates the Piazzola sul Brenta with its imposing architectural mass. The appearance of the building is 17th Century looking, when the building was enlarged and Marco Contarini the Procurator of Venice added typical Baroque decorations. There are some really fascinating architectural oddities, namely the so-called ‘Sala della chitarra rovesciata’ (guitar hall) that guarantees fabulous acoustics.
