There is a sundial on top of the Ionic column on the left hand side of the steps of the Temple of Apollo. This sundial is made of white marble and visitors marvel that it really does work. It is said that the people who paid for this column and sundial wanted to be sure that Apollo and his worshipers never forgot at whose expense it was constructed. Note on the upper part of the column is a carved plaque which has the names of the generous donors, L. Sepunius and M. Herennius.
