The St Matthew National Museum in Pisa is housed in the former 13th Century monastery of St Matthew. Visitors can view an array of 14th and 15th Century Pisan sculptures and 12th and 14th Century paintings from the Tuscan school as well as 18th Century Italian artwork. Also kept here is a collection of Pisan ceramic basins from the 16th Century. Among the museum’s other treasures are a Madonna by Nicola Pisano, St. Paul by Masaccio and bronzes, ivory work, miniatures, tapestries, glasswork and statuary.
