The church and convent of Santa Chiara are dedicated to Chiara di Damiano of Montefalco (1268-1308) who built the complex between the 13th and 14th Century. The site chosen was on the older Cappella di Santa Croce. The chapel has now become the apse of the present church and is adorned with 14th Century frescoes and depicts the lives of the saints, Catherine, Blaise and of the Virgin. Amazingly, on one wall of the altar a Calvary includes over 45 figures.
