Follow the narrow streets up through the Porta Sole quarter and you will find the church of San Severo. It’s famous as the home of one of Raphael’s earliest frescoes (1507-1508, the Holy Trinity and Saints. It was Perugino who finished the work in 1521, adding the saints on the bottom half of the same wall. Also look for the 16th Century terracotta group of a Madonna and Child by an unknown Tuscan sculpture. The church is ancient, with records of its existence in the 11th Century and the site was probably used for sacred buildings prior to this.
