The church of San Giuseppe was constructed between 1607 and 1630 on the site of the ancient oratory of San Giuseppe. The later remodelling is considered the masterpiece of the 18th Century architect, Francesco Maria Ricchino and is perhaps the finest example of a Baroque church in the city. A large pediment with a balcony window stands on the tall base around the grand entrance surrounded by statues created by Giovanni Piazza and Francesco Somaini in the 19th Century. Inside chapels, decorated with masterpieces by the artists Giulio Cesare Procaccini and Melchiorre Gherardini, border the altar.
