The church of San Francesco was founded in 1249 and has undergone many alterations over the centuries. This large Romanesque church has a façade of tufa in which there are three arched doorways along with mullioned windows. An unusual feature on the interior is the great wooden trusses with were put in place to support the vault. Worthy of note is the wooden Crucifixion of the 14th Century which is believed to be the work of Maitani or his school.
