The oratory of S. Santa Maria alla Catena is situated in the town of Militello in Val di Catania. It was rebuilt in 1652 and inside there are some lovely stucco works by artists from Acireale. These include, in the upper part, scenes from the Joyful Mysteries, and in the lower tier various Sicilian saints are depicted surrounded by cherubs, festoons and cornucopias. Of note is the elegant coffered wooden ceiling which dates back to 1661.
