The church of Saint Giovanni in Conca was founded in the early Christian era and the church was renovated in the 11th Century and expanded sometime in the 13th Century. It became a mausoleum for the Visonti family and Bernabo Visonti was buried here in 1385. There is a monument to him created by the sculptor Bonino da Campione that can be seen in the Civic Museum in the Castello Sforzesco. The bell towers were destroyed to make way for Via Mazzini, while the Gothic façade was dismantled and transferred to the new evangelical Waldensian church in Via Francesco Sforza.
