Emperor Maximian built Resti Romani di via Brisa in the 4th Century AD when Milan was the capital of the Roman Empire in the West. The imperial palace once occupied a huge area between what is now Via Meravigli and Via Torino. In Via Brisa you can see what remains of this huge building. It was during demolition work after WWII that parts of foundations and the elevation were found and was thought originally a baths complex.
