The Portixedda, just off the Via Solferino, was one of two towers that protected the town’s western approaches from any enemies. Though they were much smaller than the Torre Mariano II, and so lacked some of the impact, they have recently undergone much restoration work. Portixedda, now that it has been completely renovated, holds a small exhibition showing the extent of Oristano’s defenses in excellent detail and is well worth a visit to see the complexity of this medieval city.
