The Porta Verona is the monumental entrance into the old part of the city of Peschiera del Garda on Lake Garda. This stunning gateway was the work of the well known architect Sanmicheli. In appearance it is said to rival Porta Nuova or Porta Palio in Verona. There are two gates which lead into the old core of the city, the other one is known as the Porta Brescia. Owing to the width of the portal it can pretty congested here in high season and at weekends but is one of the highlights of the town.
