The Porta San Gennaro is one of the most ancient gateways to survive in the city of Naples. It was rebuilt sometime in the middle of the 15th Century after the city’s walls were moved from another location. In a large niche you can see a fresco created by Mattia Preti which has recently been renovated. It’s easy to locate the Porta San Gennaro by starting out from the National Museum and following the Via Foria; the gateway is immediately on the right after Piazza Cavour.
