The Prime Minister Du Tillot ordered that a casino was to be built in Parma in the 18th Century. The design of the casino building and the large boulevard in which it was to be situated was entrusted to the court architect Petitot in 1759. Petitot’s Casino was planned as a place of leisure and a meeting place akin to the Parisian Cafes. It opened its doors for the first time on June 24, 1766.
