The Parco Virgiliano is thought to be the resting place of the classical poet, Virgil. The burial vault dates from the Augustine era and has become a place that attracts poets and travellers. There is an interesting archaeological walk along a winding path to the memorial stone of Giacomo Leopardi, then to the entrance of the Neapolitan Crypt. Virgil is believed to have created the crypt: a 700-metre long tunnel inside the park dug in the 1st Century B.C. but which was engineered by a Roman architect in the 1st Century B.C. to link Naples with Pozzuoli.
