The Palazzo Serbelloni is one of the most important buildings in Milanese Neo-classicism and there have been some impressive historical figures who have stayed here. It was built in 1793 at the intersection with Via San Damiano. In 1796 it played host to Napoleon, to Metternich in 1838, and to King Vittorio Emanuele II and Napoleon III in 1859. It is now home to the journalists’ club, the Circolo della Stampa. Check the newspapers for presentations of books or cultural debates, which are often held in the mirror-studded Salone dei Specchi.
