The Palazzo Marino was designed by Galeazzo Alessi and built between 1553 and 1558. It was commissioned by Genoese banker, Tommaso Marino after whom it is named. The façade was a later addition by the architect, Luca Beltrami in 1892. The palace has an ornate internal courtyard, as well as the Sala degli Alessi, which has much decorative work and stuccoes. It was restored after the war and today it houses the Town Hall. Local people claim this is the birthplace of the nun of Monza, a fictional character from a novel by Alessandro Manzoni.
