The Palazzo Casati Dugnani aristocratic townhouse is one of the few Milanese residences built outside the medieval walls. It was built at the end of the 17th Century by the Meda family and changed in the 18th Century when it passed first to the Casati family then to the Dugnani family. The Palazzo and its vast grounds became open as a public park in 1854 and by 1857 became the home of the Natural History Museum. It was extensively damaged during WWII, but was fully renovated and now hosts popular events and a film museum.
