The Palazzo Carafa di Maddaloni was built in 1466 and is one of the most important of the Baroque era and erected over a pre-existing military structure. It passed to the Carafa di Maddaloni family, who commissioned Cosimo Fanzago to redecorate and enlarge the building. It became a palace of artistic prestige with monumental dimensions as can be seen from the impressive gateway on Via Maddaloni. There is a magnificent apartment on the piano Nobile and a ceiling in the Sala delle Feste, painted by Fedele Fischetti.
