Built in the 16th Century, the Palaeontology Museum rooms look out onto the cloisters of the convent of San Marcellino. There is a fascinating collection of animal and vegetable fossils from Italy and many other countries. There are also many items on display such as; Iron Age pottery, obsidian weapons and tools from the Bronze Age, found on Capri in the Grotta delle Felci. There is fabulous a collection of mammals from the caves of Cassino and Campagna and a collection of invertebrates from the provinces of the south.
