The Museo Civico di Storia Naturale was founded in 1838 and located in a neo-Romanesque style building. It was renovated and re-opened to the public in 1952 and situated within the public gardens of Corso Venezia. There are eight sections inside housing Mineralogy and Petrography, Geology, Palaeontology, Vertebrate Palaeontology, Vertebrate Zoology, Invertebrate Zoology, Entomology, and Botany. The Geology section has one of the biggest collections in Europe, with many glass displays showing natural environments re-created using reproductions of fauna and flora. Guided tours are available and admission is free.
