The village of Melendugno is one of the ancient areas where Greeks settled. One of its interesting places to visit is the Dolmen Placa – a remnant of ancient Neolithic civilisations. The dolmen is comprised of a slab of stone which is supported by seven monoliths. The castle here dates back to the 15th Century; it’s now enclosed by other buildings but the northern tower is still intact and visible. The chapel of Santa Niceta also has some interesting frescoes.
