The Masseria Combattenti reserve takes in reclaimed alluvial soils from three rivers: the Cervone, Candelaro and Celaro. The Margherita di Savoia Saltworks is its largest wetland area and the remaining part is a system of channels and basins of salt water. Because of the brackish soil, the vegetation consists of glasswort with the reed beds flourishing close to the water. This area is a refuge for resident animals, such as mallards and Western marsh harriers. Masseria Combattenti is also a major spa that offers bromo-ionine-salt cures.
