The Maritime Teaching Museum is situated in the Duca degli Abruzzi Nautical Institute. The school was founded in 1623 and the central collection is dated from this period. Here can be found material that shows the origins and development of the methods of navigation. There is a model section with work made by pupils of the school. Another area displays compasses, sextants, octants and solar clocks, and the document exhibits include atlases, nautical charts, photographs and books. The museum has photographic archives as well as a library.
