Maria SS. della Stella in Militello in Val di Catania was erected between 1722 and 1741. It has a fine doorway and spiral columns and inside its many halls are the church’s treasures. There is a wonderful glazed terracotta Nativity altarpiece dated 1847 - the work of early Renaissance Florentine master, Andrea della Robbia. Also contained here is a 15th Century altarpiece by the Maestro della Croce of Piazza Armerina, and a Portrait of Pietro Speciale, a relief by Francesco Laurana.
