Built in the Middle Ages, the church of Madonna della Luce was erected on Etruscan foundations. It has an attractive Renaissance façade, a round fresco of ‘God the Father’ by the artist Giovanni Battista Caporali, and another of the ‘Madonna and Saints’ by Tiberio d’Assisi. The church commemorates a miracle: a barber playing cards by his shop is said to have cursed so hard after losing a game that a wooden Madonna in a nearby shrine closed her eyes and didn’t open them for four days.
