The House of Mysteries is situated outside the walls of Pompei and is considered to be the second most important villa in the area. There are wonderful frescoes that depict scenes relating to the sect of Dionysus (Bacchus). This is a typical example of a fine dwelling, elegantly designed as accommodation, and management quarters of a steward in charge of a vineyard. This villa was restored by 1939, and here visitors can observe all the functional, decorative, and architectural trappings of Pompeian life.
