Historic buildings of Militello in Val di Catania
Militello in Val di Catania 95043 - Italy

Map
Palazzo Majorana, with its carved lions, is one of the few Renaissance buildings in Militello in Val di Catania. The ruins of the Branciforti castle consist of a round tower and sections of walls. At the centre of the original castle courtyard there is Fontana della Ninfa Zizza, a fountain which dates back to 1607 - built to commemorate the opening of the first city aqueduct, sponsored by Branciforte. The Chiesa di S. Maria La Vetere has a lovely 19th Century portal of some note and the main piazza is reached through the Porta della Terra – the town’s main gate.
