The Gladiator Barracks in Pompei is believed to have been a meeting place for spectators who attended the Great Theatre. In the time of Nero it was converted to quarters for the gladiators. These men used to live here with their families and the area was used as a practice ground for gladiatorial contests. The family living accommodation was spread over two storeys. During excavations numerous weapons were found here and are now on display in the Archaeological Museum.
