The Garaffo fountain, which in Arabic means plenty of water, is to be found on the old Cassaro, today’s Corso Vittorio Emanuele opposite the Palazzo delle Finanze. It was designed by the architect Paolo Amato to decorate the square of the same name, which was built by Gioacchino Vitagliano in 1698. The fountain is an exquisite blend of natural elements with a beautiful design of shells resting on dolphins supporting a hydra fighting an eagle and on top is the statue of Plenty.
