The Fortress of Noceto is an imposing looking structure set in the centre of the town. It was constructed on the site of a pre-existing building in the middle of the 13th Century. Oberto Pallavicino built it after his appointment by Federico II. Pier Maria Rossi partially restored the fortress during the 15th Century and in the 17th Century it was divided into two sections, one section was given to the Farnese family and the other to the Sanvitale Family. A wide moat surrounds the fortress, which was still in use until the 19th Century.
