The Villa Floridiana, sited on the Vomero hill, is home to the Duca di Martina National Museum of Ceramics. The heirs of Placido De Sangro, Duke of Martina, have donated the bulk of its collection to the city. The Duke was a passionate collector who amassed a huge number of objects of great value, glass, snuffboxes, articles in leather, ivory and coral, and porcelain and majolica. There are many fine European pieces and exquisite examples of Japanese and Chinese porcelain here.
