The Collegio Elvetico was designed in 1608 by Fabio Mangone and commissioned by Federico Borromeo, the college being destined for the training of the Swiss clergy. Its grand style architecture revolves around two courtyards enhanced by double columns. The façade is excellent in a semicircular form created by Franco Richini and providing a link between the street and the interior of the courtyards. There is a copy of a statue by Picasso on the small piazza in front of the façade. Today it is home to Milan’s State Archives.
