The Cloister of the ex-San Geminiano Monastery was originally built as a hospital in 1348 at the time the plague was raging and continued as such until the middle of the next century. By 1348 it was turned into a convent for the nuns of San Geminiano and had two bell towers added in 1586. When monastic orders were suppressed in 1798 and the convent closed down permanently, the buildings got used for a variety of activities. The 14th Century cloisters, adorned by a double series of arches, are worthy of note.
