An ancient Benedictine Monastery that passed to the Olivetani order in 1500 built the main nucleus that developed around two twin cloisters. The museum has developed in 3 buildings and 3 distinct parts: Monuments, Rail Transport, and Maritime Transport, including sections dedicated to fabric production, metallurgy, motors, transport, telecommunication, and astronomy. Located in the same building that hosts the Museum of Science and Technology, it conserves history and technology of naval art over the century. Included are mercantile ship models, warship models, relics, and models on the evolution of the Italian Navy from the 15th Century.
